Adventures in 2007's Finale and 2008's Commencement in the OHten

For the new year, my soliathero, (refer to previous post for definition of aforementioned term) Ghetto Frog, Gavin Alien, and I ventured up to Ohio to bond with some dear friends. Here are a few of the highlights:

B.O.M.A.: (Bar of Modern Art) If bars/clubs were like this in the Natural State, I would go far more often. Set in an old church, it has everything... dancing, lounging, uhh... arting.

Gold digger: A drink of magic containing goldschlagher, vanilla vodka, apple pucker, grenadine, and pineapple juice.

Tang Martini: Orange vodka and the drink o' the 'nauts, yo.

Betty's: Ambiance and a damn good salad.

Thurman's: A Pepperoni pizza burger the size of my face. Enough said gentleman and ladies.

Writing three songs: With Joshua "The Jewish Vulcan" (I am far too complex, brilliant, and mysterious to be so young), Matt (I make piano keys bleed I am that good), and myself I feel we created tres exciting stories set to music that I am stoked to share with the world.

Spending quality time with Jordan, Josh, Eli, and Steph.

Furthering my fall into fandom of the group High Street.

Bonding with my soliathero in new and fascinating ways.

Eating Thai... yumm yumm...

Eating Indian food for the first time: I love Pocahontas. Wait... oops, I do, but that was inappropriate. Damn, I need a new editor. :-0

Falling in love with snow all over again: I want to make out with our skydwelling at first but then all fally down to earth(y) friend.

It was a refreshing beginning to a new year filled with possibilities, collaborative creations, and overall nuttiness for all.

Random Quotes from the trek to the OHten: (Which, by the way no one seems to call it: Screw Wonderful Town, the Musical and its lack of historical significance. Comden and Green... Comden and Green)

Yorke, Thom the Clock!

Kimono, himona, Greek... there you go!

Shi...

...Awkward!

2008: It just sounds so all "I am in the future b@$*& (female doggie dog... dog)! Bow before me." Well, I shall... I am.

May the New Year be a one filled with creation, passion, and discovery.

Floss for it is a fulfilling end to any day, except Thursdays which is weird and I have no reason why Thursday is lower on the fulfillment ratio...and also at first it is gross until you make your gums all manly and such, but still... do it or else suffer gum torture (not like Dentyne held hostage, rather like the weird little teeth holders in the mouth gum...).

You are all and shall always remain poppets of the world, uhh...poppets. :-)

The DASH bids you adieu.

Aside: The DASH is me, in case there was any confusion on the matter. I hate that, just abhore it, but I love the word abhore... what a vicious little circle that one took.

Now The DASH means it.

Loving the Squiggly

I was typing the other day and instead of hitting the ! key I hit the ~ key. Two odd altercations happened between two friends and me via facebook so I have deactivated my account for a bit. It was hurtful and unexpected. So when I hit the ~ key it made me smile and forget all that nonsense. ~ ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dustin

And With This, Farewell

This blog has been a dear friend to me. I am not good at farewells, but truly this is anything but. I look at it like this - I love the phoenix, the symbolism of it all, the power of rebirth. Hence why I named my blog/musing screen after one. :-) So, I am leaving this particular blog to start another one, one that fits me NOW, the one that I can share in a new way. So this feels right. Thanks to those who have read my musings throughout the years. I hope you follow me to my new musing home entitled THE TWELVE THAT IS DUSTIN BAYLAN. Yes, I am changing the name, the story of that is on the new blog for you to read. Here is the link: http://dustinbaylan.wordpress.com/ Much love, much hope and joy again, much potential... Call to Action

This past Saturday I, with thousands of others across the country, attended a protest/rally of Proposition 8 and Act I (the adoption ban in Arkansas). My dear allies in this battle were Jay, Karen, their joyous son Quin, our mutual friend Greg, Amanda, Carter, Sarah Jane, Liz, and the brave Arkansans that showed up for the rally on the steps of our Capitol. It was bitterly cold and grey, but within I was ignited with passion and newfound purpose. As I listened to the stories of my fellow brothers and sisters, gay, straight, bisexual, transgendered, I was struck by the power of the many speaking as one. Then I began to visit my own story and was struck at how far I have come... to think back fourteen years ago when I had my brother tell my parents that I happened to be gay because I was so frightened as to what they would think, say, how they could ever love me, this abomination.... To now, a man standing with his friends and proclaiming "This is our right, What you have done is ...
